It's official! I am moved! I have my own place!
It took an entire weekend, and am I still not completely settled. Although, I need some furniture in order to put some of my stuff away, so for now, it's going to have to stay in piles pushed against the wall. Oh well.
My parents came up last weekend and helped. In fact, they did most of the moving because I think they were more excited than I was, and they would not wait for me. They went right ahead and started moving my stuff. My mom cleaned all my dishes and set up my kitchen--which was a bit frustrating this evening when I was trying to find the cutting board.
Tomorrow, my couch comes! Hooray! And I have a brand new television. This is all very exciting. (and expensive. I think I am now Target's best customer). My next step is decorating this place. I am allowed to "go crazy and make it my own!" according to my overly peppy property manager. Well, I intend to go crazy. Don't be surprised if you come to visit me and see your face staring back at you from thousands upon thousands of picture frames scattered in a chaotic order about my place. Yes, my place. Crazy.
I am loving it, though I haven't even spent an entire week here. However, I already kind of miss going to my grandparents after work. It's nice to talk to somebody. I can tell this is going to get a bit lonely. Once again, thank god for my TV. I need the noise.
What can I say about my apartment? Well, it's pretty small. It has a nice kitchen area, with lots of cabinet space. A huge island that will serve as my dinning table. (I already have the bar stools.) Then there is the living room. It's very open. And off of the living room is a balcony. Unfortunately, my screen door is broken and won't close all the way. Due to the swarms of soybean aphids that have overrun Champaign, I can't open it. So my apartment gets a little stuffy and I'm having to run my AC, which I really don't want to do that much. Anyway, then you go back through a door to my spacious bedroom. It has a nice big window as well. Off of the bedroom is my bathroom. And off of my bathroom is my giant walk-in closet. Normally I would marvel at the size of the thing, but it is the only closet in the entire apartment. So it's already a bit full. Oh! I forget to mention! Off of the kitchen is a teeny tiny little room that hold my washer and dryer! I am doing laundry right now. This is so great. I never thought I would get so excited about doing laundry, but the convenience factor is a huge contributor to my joy.
That's about all. Not much to it. But it's mine. So, when do you want to come visit? :)
Cheers.
